Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Set off early for the scenic drive to Bwindi, the famed home of Uganda's endangered mountain gorillas. While it’s a long journey, you’ll have plenty of interesting stops to keep things engaging, including a stop at the equator for photos and a chance to stand in both hemispheres at once. This journey through Uganda’s lush countryside, past rolling hills and small towns, offers beautiful views and a fascinating glimpse of rural life. Arrive in Bwindi in the late afternoon, settle into your lodge, and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi
Today’s the big day! After an early breakfast, head out with your guide and tracking group into the dense, misty forest of Bwindi. Your guide will lead you on a trek through the forest, following signs left by a specific gorilla family. The trek can be challenging, but the experience of coming face-to-face with a gorilla family in their natural habitat is indescribably rewarding. Spend a precious hour observing the gorillas as they go about their daily lives—a humbling, once-in-a-lifetime experience. After your trek, return to your lodge to relax and absorb the memories of the day.
Travel to Lake Mburo National Park and Game Drive
After breakfast, begin the drive toward Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda's smallest savannah park, known for its diverse wildlife. Upon arrival, you’ll embark on a game drive through the park’s acacia-dotted landscapes, with chances to spot zebra, giraffe, buffalo, various antelope, and more. Keep your eyes open for the park’s impressive birdlife as well. The open plains and scenic surroundings make for a wonderful backdrop to your safari.
Boat Ride on Lake Mburo & Return to Entebbe/Kampala
Start the morning with a relaxing boat ride on Lake Mburo, where you’ll get up close to hippos, crocodiles, and an array of bird species along the shore. As you drift through the calm waters, enjoy the peace and beauty of the lake and keep an eye out for the various wildlife that comes to the water’s edge. Afterward, start your journey back to Entebbe or Kampala, completing an incredible few days filled with nature, wildlife, and unforgettable experiences.

Crazy Crater Tours took my adventure to a whole new level! Gorilla tracking in Bwindi was surreal—the thrill of seeing a gorilla family up close was truly humbling. Lake Mburo offered a beautiful contrast with its open savannahs, where we spotted zebras, warthogs, and giraffes.
A tip for future travelers: carry plenty of water. The hikes are intense, and staying hydrated is essential to enjoy the experience fully. Coming from Pakistan, I felt incredibly welcomed and left Uganda with a deep appreciation for its stunning landscapes and warm people. This was a journey I’ll cherish forever.
